It was a night for incumbents in township races around Union County.
In Jerome Township, C.J. Lovejoy and Joe Craft defended their trustee seats against challenger Andrew Diamond.
In Paris Township, Dave Cook and Steve Westlake defeated Crista Miller to retain their seats on the board of trustees.
According to unofficial results from the Union County Board of Elections, Cook earned 2,077 votes, while Westlake earned 1,723 votes and Miller earned 1,670 votes. According to the board of elections, 1,872 Paris Township ballots included under votes for trustee.
A former trustee, Miller said that while she did not win, she was proud to run.
“I am pleased that there was competition at the polls for Paris Township Trustee,” Miller wrote in a statement to the Journal Tribune. “Good things will happen in Paris Township. The residents’ needs and concerns will be addressed with the two trustee positions filled.”
She added that, “involvement in local government is the key to a successful community.”
In Jerome Township, incumbents Lovejoy and Craft tallied 847 and 822 votes respectively. Diamond, a Dublin resident, earned 622 votes.
Union County had other contested township races as well. All results are unofficial and according to the Union County Board of Elections.
In Allen Township, Lori LaCella, with 297 votes, was elected fiscal officer.
In Taylor Township, Beth Marshall, 314 votes, and Dennis Schertzer, 287 votes, were elected to the board of trustees.
Many of the township races were uncontested.
In Allen Township, Jack Rausch, 439 votes, and Ronald Chapman, 413 votes were elected trustees.
In Claibourne Township, Joe Wiley, 468 votes, and Rod Goddard, 359 votes, were elected to the board of trustees.
In Darby Township, Dennis Blumenschein, 449 votes, and Roger Davenport, 431 votes, were elected to the board of trustees and Connie Priday, 477 votes, was elected fiscal officer.
In Dover Township, Dan Westlake, 333 votes, and Barry Moffett, 327 votes, were elected to the board of trustees.
In Jackson Township, Don Wasserbeck, 163 votes, and Charles Ehret, 129 votes, were elected as trustees.
In Leesburg Township, Jeffery Robinson, 221 votes, and William Lowe, 189 votes, were elected to the board of trustees.
In Liberty Township, Karen Johnson, 322 votes, and Jack McCoy, 264 votes, were elected trustees.
In Millcreek Township, Keith Conroy, 255 votes, and Bill Jordan, 241 votes, were elected to the board of trustees.
In Washington Township, Randy Sullivan, 156 votes, and Ron Jones, 142 votes were elected trustees.
In York Township, Bruce Davis, 185 votes, and Judy Christian, 181 votes, were elected trustees.
