Anna Lou Smith, 86, of Richwood, formerly of Waynesfield, died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Prestige Gardens Nursing Home in Marysville.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She worked for years as a nurse’s aide at Milcrest Nursing Home in Marysville, as well as a demo lady at Community Markets in Lima before she retired. She attended Waynesfield Baptist Church in Waynesfield.
She was considered to be a wonderful cook because of her pan-fried chicken and potato dumplings.
She was born on May 25, 1931, in Delaware County, to the late Everett Raymond and Fontabell (Shoemaker) Eddy. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl English; grandson, Frederick Frey; and husband, William Clayton “Smitty” Smith, whom she married on Oct. 7, 1946, and who died Feb. 6, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Thomas of Avon Lake; son, William R. (Diane) Smith of Waynesfield; sister-in-law, Louise Grimes of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Brian (Betty) Frey, Brad (Camilla) Frey, Jonathan Landon, Whitney Johnson, Sheri Smith, Stephanie (Wes) Harris and Julie English; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Don F. Smith will officiate funeral services Monday at 11 a.m. at the Waynesfield Baptist Church, 512 North Westminster St., Waynesfield. A burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, in New Hampshire, Ohio. Friends may call in from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, 201 S. Franklin St., Richwood, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
