Douglas Lee Farrington, 61, of Richwood, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
He graduated from North Union High School in 1974. A hard worker, he learned many skills over the years by working as a farmhand on several area farms and driving milk trucks and tractor trailers. He especially enjoyed riding John Deere tractors with any chance he could get.
Since he was driving all that machinery, he also served as a mechanic to repair much of it. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching drag racing, following NASCAR and collecting the items of his favorite driver, Dale Jarrett.
He was born on April 8, 1956, in Kenton, to Dallas and Peg (Seaman) Farrington of West Mansfield. He was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons, Cory of Ridgeway and Brian of Akron, Michigan; brother, Ken (Deb) Farrington of West Mansfield; sisters, Vicki (Earl) Webb of West Mansfield and Jodi (Shawn) Welch of Ridgeway; uncle, Bob (Nancy) Farrington of Bellefontaine; and numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., in West Mansfield, where the Rev. Doug Thompson will officiate funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Byhalia Cemetery. It is requested those who attend wear casual attire for the services in his honor.
