Edward “Ed” Forney, 72, of Columbus, died unexpectedly from health complications Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at his home.
A retired, self-employed contractor, he built custom homes throughout his career. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He also enjoyed going to target practice with his daughter at Black Wing Shooting Center. He was known to family and friends as an exceptional handyman and a loving and devoted father.
He was born on June 19, 1945, in Lima, to the late Everett H. and Mary Ellen Rickenbacher Forney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rose Lee Roebuck Forney, and two sons, Brett and Scott Forney.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn “Kate” Forney of Marysville; sister, Carol Shortslef of New York; mother-in-law, Laura Lee Roebuck of Marysville; brother-in-law, Don Roebuck; sister-in-law, Virginia Roebuck; cousins; Wayne Rickenbacher, Paul Rickenbacher, Judy Houser, Carl “Frank” Price, Barbara Stewart, Patty Wood, Kathy Kin, Karen Webb and Mark Rickenbacher; and many other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Underwood Funeral Home, in Marysville.
