Helen “Dee” Sauer Amsler, 75, of Ostrander, formerly of Worthington and Westerville, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She retired after 35 years as a real estate agent with HER Realtors and Cutler Real Estate. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville and a former parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church in Worthington and at St. Paul Catholic Church in Westerville.
She enjoyed traveling around the world and sailing with her late husband, Bob. She made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, in Israel, twice. Above all, she cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1941, in Pittsburgh, to the late John Anthony and Gladys Marie Kennedy Sauer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death in 2009 by her husband of 50 years, Robert L. Amsler, and three brothers, Jack, Tom and Jim Sauer.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Scott) Schnapp, Molly (George) Silcott and Jennifer (Gary) Kessler, all of Ostrander; eight grandchildren, Maggie (Mark) Elkins, Meredith Welsh, Noah Danals, G. Reed (Megan) Silcott and Morgan, Blake, Grant and Maria Kessler; three great-grandchildren, Tenleigh and Kennedy Silcott and Harper Jeffreys; a niece, Leslie Kuycht; and two nephews, Joseph Sauer and Justin Whyte.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin J. Kavanagh will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
