Janice McKitrick Rausch, 89, a lifetime resident of Union County, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Bluebird Retirement Community in Marysville.
As a homemaker, she and her husband owned and operated their dairy farm in the Plain City area for many years. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in the church and school office. She was also a former school cafeteria assistant.
She graduated from New California High School in 1945, and she was a constant support to her children throughout their school activities and 4-H involvement at fairs and club meetings. She enjoyed handicrafts, especially crocheting and sewing. She will be remembered as a patient, loving and strong family matriarch with an enduring smile.
She was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Union County, to the late Delmore and Margaret Bouic McKitrick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert G. Rausch, whom she married Nov. 7, 1948, at New California Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Marcia (Gary) Lee of Marysville, Jerry (Carol) Rausch of Plain City, Debbie (Gary) Martin of Plain City, Kristen (Eric) Snyder of Plain City and Carla (Mike) Hicks of Hilliard; grandchildren, Ryan (Kristin) Lee, Greg (Christi) Lee, Joe (Hannah) Rausch, Ashley (Bobby) Dunbar, Stephanie (Chip) Stewart, Jeremy (Sarah) Belcher, Jonathan Belcher, Brandon Stewart and Kyle Warner; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Alli, Cori, Kinzi, Sydney, Kass, Camri, Gabrey, Lilly, Eliza, Logan, Staci and Zac; sister, Mardelle Rickard of Plain City; sister-in-law, Doris Rausch of Marysville; cousin, Robert (Mickey) McKitrick of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate memorial services at noon Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. A private burial will follow at the church cemetery.
