Lawrence Eugene “Larry” Dunn, 84, of Marysville, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at The Ohio State James Cancer Hospital.
He was the business manager for Thorpe Motors in the 1970s. He ended his career in the test engineering office of the Ohio Department of Transportation in Delaware. He and his wife, Jan, had their winter retirement in Leesburg, Florida, for the past 23 years. He enjoyed playing golf. Although he had been an amputee since 1964, he never let anything stop him.
He and his wife traveled to all 50 states, as well as to Europe twice, England, Ireland, Canada and 28 days in Australia and New Zealand. He was a member of Marysville First United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Palestine Lodge #158 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus and Elks Lodge #1130.
He was born Nov. 6, 1932, to the late Clarence and Hattie Dunn near Broadway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven E. Dunn, and sister, Miriam Dunn Buswell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jan (Jacobs) Dunn; daughters, Sherri (Robert) Bukovec of Westerville and Sonni (Bruce) Baker of Prospect; daughter-in-law, Sharon Dunn of Powell; seven grandchildren, Kelly Dunn (Steven) Weber, Christopher (Becca) Dunn, Clint (Lizzie) McElroy, Kara (Alex Grant) McElroy, Michael (Nichole) Baker, Kurt Baker and Diana (Cory) Valentine; nine great-grandchildren, Sydney Weber, Oliver and Avery Dunn, Eli and Ava McElroy, Aubrey and Brenna Baker and Gabriella and Graeme Valentine; and sister, Shirley (Jean) Hadley of Pittsboro, Indiana.
The Rev. Aaron Brown will officiate a Celebration of Life service at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ingram Funeral Home.
