Shirley Jean Kirby, 82, of Delaware, died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Inn at Olentangy Trail.
She graduated from Marysville High School in 1953. She was part of a graduating class of nursing at White Cross Hospital, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She worked as a public health nurse and worked in the labor and delivery department at Riverside Methodist Hospital until 1977. She worked part-time as a bus driver for Buckeye Valley School Systems and retired from the United States Postal Service.
She was an avid book reader, reading anything by John Grisham and Nora Roberts. She golfed mostly at Mill Creek Golf Club in her earlier years.
She was born Dec. 15, 1935 in Marysville, to the late Neva (Yoakum) and Chester Rittenhouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kirby, who died in 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Steven) Babcock, goddaughter, Kim Marie Shea and brother, David (Chris) Rittenhouse of Marysville.
Visitation will be held at Robinson Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Wallace White will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
