The cross-country teams from Bunshold Middle School hosted Hilliard Memorial on Tuesday and came away with the top spot in both of the girls and boys races.
Maddie Sunquist outpaced the pack with a time of 13:22 to take first place and the ninth fastest time in Bunshold history.
Bryn Hothem was hot on her heels with a time of 13:34 for second place, while Abri Schmutz finished in 13:58 to round out the top three.
Brooke Williams and Aimee Bowser finished in the top 10 with respective times of 14:52 and 15:09.
Bunshold took the top three spots in the boys race as well with Sean Shultz leading the way with a time of 12:34. Brian Boston was close behind with a time of 12:39 to take second and Jackson Segner finished only a second behind (12:40) for third.
Lincoln Witt took sixth place with a time of 13:10, while Graham Guider and Cannon Moser finished in the top 10 with new personal records of 13:15 and 13:20.
Bunshold will return to action on Tuesday when they take on Urbana.
North Union MS runs in Griffin Open
The North Union Middle School cross-country teams traveled to the Village Academy to compete in the Griffin Open. The junior Lady Cats team finished in sixth place with a team score of 142, while the boys finished in fourth place with a team score of 96.
Ashley Hayward led the charge for the Lady Cats with a 15th place finish in a time of 14:45. Odyssey Brady finished in 22nd with a time of 15:19. Kendall Music placed 30th after she finished the course in 16:05. Riley Popovich grabbed 53rd place with a 20:37 finish, while Aunna Kasler rounded out the team with a 57th place finish in a time of 27:11.
The boy’s team was led by Aaron Krebehenne with a third-place clocking of 12:08. Casey Clark completed the course in a time of 13:02 for eighth place. John Popovich claimed 35th place with a time of 15:04, while William Popovich finished in 46th place in a time of 16:43.
