Week Two of the Pigskin Pickers saw a shake-up from the deadlock of Week One. A new leader has separated himself from the pack, albeit only with a slim one-game lead on the rest of the Pickers.
Mac Cordell turned in a perfect week of picks, going 9-0 to take the early overall lead at 12-1 on the season. The bulk of the pack turned in an 8-1 slate to keep second place locked up between Chad Williamson, Tim Miller, Will Channell and Sam Dillon, each with an 11-2 overall record.
Williamson will stay put in Marysville to cover the Monarchs as they host Olentangy Liberty on Friday. Cordell will make the trip to Jamestown to cover Fairbanks vs. Greeneview. Miller and Channell will cover Triad as the Cardinals open Ohio Heritage Conference action against Springfield Catholic Central and Dillon will make the trip to Grandview Heights to watch North Union.
Jonathan Alder will travel north as they take on Clearfork.
Don’t forget to check out the Marysville Journal-Tribune Facebook page to keep up-to-date on local teams with quarterly scoring updates.
Guest Pickers again this week are Dave Laslow, Dean Cook, Kevin Truitt and Bob Van Hoose.

Disclaimers:
Williamson: “This is a terribly difficult slate of high school games. Usually you simply lack information, but a lot of these games look like legitimate toss ups. Marysville might be a bit of a homer pick, because Liberty was 13-1 last year and the returning players know how to win. But hopefully Marysville got a taste for blood last week and can rise up again. I hope Triad can outlast SCC, but I think Grandview is too much for North Union.”
Miller: “Springfield Catholic Central is low in roster numbers, so hopefully Triad can pick up a win. The Ohio State-Oklahoma game could be interesting.”
Behrens: “It’s really hard to take coffee-drinking, Cock-a-Doodle Cordell, who has been crowing all week about his one-game lead in the Pickers race. The cackling is endless and really hard to take, so I am willing to bet he won’t win come season’s end.”
Cordell: “I understand that when you’re perennially a top Picker, you’re going to get everyone’s best shot every week. I am used to it. There are no ‘gimmes’ on this week’s slate, so I should not crow too much.”
Channell: “People tell me the high school games are tough this week and I’ll take their word for it. Good luck to local teams and go Bucks!”
Dillon: “Two weeks in the books and I still feel shaky in my picks. North Union will have a tough Week Three opponent in Grandview Heights. Last year’s contest was a close one with NU coming out on top. However, this is a new year and the Wildcats have been hot and cold with a win and loss, but I am hopeful. Good luck to all local teams under the Friday night lights.”
Laslow: “Go Bucks!”
Truitt: “Go Bucks!”
Cook: “Marysville will have its hands full, as will the Buckeyes. Should be an interesting week!”
Van Hoose: “Go Bucks!”
