In the early season of the Pigskin Pickers, no true picker has risen to the top. Last week’s leader, Mac Cordell, is now sitting at the top of the preverbal picking tower with fellow picker Tim Miller at 21-7. Kevin Behrens was able to make up a game on Cordell to put him on their heels only one game behind at 20-8. Chad Williamson and Sam Dillon sit in the middle of the pack at 19-9, while Will Channell is in the basement at 17-11.
Week Three was a rough week for all pickers, but this week is a fresh start. Williamson will be covering this week’s game of the week, Marysville at Grove City. Miller will cover Jonathan Alder as they make their debut in the Central Buckeye Conference against Benjamin Logan. Cordell will tackle the Fairbanks game as they host Madison-Plains and Dillon will watch on as the Wildcats of North Union host Mid Ohio Athletic Conference newcomer Clear Fork.
Our guest Pickers once again are Dave Laslow, Dean Cook, Kevin Truitt and Bob Van Hoose.

Disclaimers:
Williamson: “These games are killing me. At least the college games are a little easier this week, but the high school games are tough. I’m going with many of the local teams but I can’t pull the trigger on Fairbanks yet. I’m hoping Triad can figure something out against one of the weaker teams they will see this season.”
Miller: “I look for the Monarchs to win after a tough loss last week. The NU-Clearfork game could be interesting and we will see if JA can shake off losing their first game of the season.”
Behrens: “Even though the Pigskin Pickers is a race to the finish and Cordell is leading. I don’t think he will cross the finish line first because his experience in races locally has not gone well. The last time he ran a race in Marysville, he came out of the porto-john all disheveled after the starting gun went off with toilet paper stuck to his shoe. Lets see if he can pull his pants up and put his earphones in to make this a contest.”
Cordell: “I don’t know what to make of Clear Fork. The Colts have been a traditional beating post, but clearly they have something this year. I really like Joe Cardinal and hope this is the week for Triad.”
Channell: “My weekly thing is going to be reviewing coffee I get from the various local stadiums. So, last week was Triad. I’m gonna be honest, it was a little burnt. You could tell it had been sitting in the carafe for a while, because no one in their right mind would buy coffee at a high school football game. It was hard to get much of the roast up front and the aftertaste was a bit metallic, as large batch brews often are. It got the job done, 7/10.”
Dillon: “I struggled with my North Union vs. Clear Fork pick. The Wildcats have been looking good the last few weeks, but the Colts are undefeated at 3-0 and boast some deep talent on their roster. It will be a good game to watch. Good luck to all the teams under the Friday night lights.”
