It’s Week 7 of the high school football season as well as the Pigskin Picker season and Mac Cordell is starting to widen the gap from the rest of the pack. Cordell turned in a 12-1 effort last week to give himself a 51-13 record on the season. Tim Miller is the only other picker within striking distance with a 47-17 record.
Kevin Behrens and Chad Williamson stay put in the middle of the pack at 44-20. Will Channell makes his way out of the basement with a 10-3 week to bring his season record to 43-21, while Sam Dillon sinks like a rock in a pond and is three games behind the pack at 40-24.
Miller will cover the Game of the Week as he watches Jonathan Alder at 5-1 take on Bellefontaine, which is also 5-1, in Central Buckeye Conference action. Cordell will travel with Fairbanks as they take on Northeastern.
Williamson will stay put in Marysville to watch the Monarchs take on Westland as Marysville tries to claim its third win of the season.
Dillon will go on the road with North Union as the Road Warriors of Richwood try to keep a perfect record on the road and claim their fourth win of the season.
This week’s guest pickers are Dean Cook, Dave Laslow, Kevin Truitt and Bob Van Hoose.

Disclaimers:
Williamson: “Marysville gets back in the win column this week, as do the Panthers. I went back and forth on the the NU/Harding pick and ultimately went with the Presidents based on how they played Pleasant. The JA game should be the game of the week, with both teams sporting a single loss, both to undefeated teams. Also, old KB’s smokeshow down there seems to be getting more and more unhinged as the weeks progress. I think he’s getting stressed with Marysville’s Homecoming on the horizon and he’s having flashbacks of his head getting stuffed in a toilet in school.”
Miller: “Marysville and Fairbanks will hopefully get back on the winning side of the track. Can the Browns win their first game of the season?”
Behrens: “Only one time in Picker history has the defending champ come in last place the following year, that was Mac Cordell four years ago. Knowing Cordell runs 10k races with toilet paper stuck to his foot, I am not sure Jim Dandy Dilion should follow in his footsteps. Dandy Dillon is well on his way, though, with his performance this season and no hope in sight. Dillon’s real worry now is that he will get “Channeled” the rest of the season. (Channeled= being one game up and picking the same picks as the basement dweller so you can’t finish last).”
Cordell: “This is a big week for the local teams as some of them begin to make their push for the post- season. Baring a miracle, Alder is in and Triad is out. Marysville needs a lot of help, but Fairbanks and North Union still have their destinies in their own hands. Win out and they are in.”
Channell: “I brought some new coffee in the office, and it’s pretty good so far. It’s from Trader Joe’s and pretty okay, basic coffee. I give it 7/10, it gets the job done.”
Dillon: “Another week down, another failure. At this point I’m playing to not come in last, I don’t want to buy pizza. North Union has yet again another tough game this week this time at Harding, but maybe they can keep the ‘Road Warrior’ mentality working and come out on top. Either way it should be good football.”
Cook: “ Go Bucks!”

Truitt: “Go Bucks!”
