The Fairbanks varsity boys won the Ohio Heritage Conference golf tournament and clinched the OHC North Division title on Thursday.
Travis Brake and Seth Payne each shot an 81, followed by Justin Brackenridge-82, Aidan Wilson-83, Logan Bocsy-84 and Cross Hackathorne-97.
Brackenridge and Brake earned first-team honors for the conference.
Payne and Wilson were named to the second team and Bocsy earned honorable mention.
FHS girls trumph
A special event was held Thursday when the girls golf teams from Fairbanks, Marysville and Grove City played a triangular match.
The seniors from all three teams teed off last and the other players and parents gathered on the 18th green to honor them.
Monarch senior Rylee Cavins was also recognized for being cancer-free since 2009.
The girls played by grade level instead of rankings.
“We wanted to make it a fun match for all,” said MHS coach Juliet Litzel.
Fairbanks won the match with a 186, Grove City carded a 206 and the Lady Monarchs finished with a 222.
Natalie Parker led FHS with a 42, followed by Emily Wilson-43, Audrey Brackenridge-44 and Rachel Studenmund-57.
Maddie Powers led Marysville with a 49, followed by Faith Engle-54, Olivia Virts-57 and Cavins and Olivia Ishmael-62.
JA finished second
Jonathan Alder’s boys shot a 336 and placed second to Springfield Shawnee’s 335 during the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division match at Urbana.
Bellefontaine shot a 342, Kenton Ridge finished with a 372 and Tecumseh shot a 397.
Mychal McKelvey led JA with a 75, followed by Zach Otto-86, Hayden Mitchell-87 and Tyler Hilbert-88.
Bunsold girls win
Marysville’s middle school squad beat Fairbanks, 233-248.
Cassi Van Dyke of Bunsold was the medalist with a 53, followed by Emily Williams-55, Avery Prohaska-58 and Catie Johnson-67.
No Fairbanks scores were reported.
