Area golfers have success during Tuesday matches
The Fairbanks boys golf team shot a 333 and advanced to the district tournament for the third straight year after the Darby Creek sectional on Tuesday.
Wellington won the tournament with a 308 and the Panthers placed as the runner-up.
Travis Brake led the Panthers with an 81, followed by Justin Brackenridge-83, Aidan Wilson-84, Seth Payne-85 and Logan Bocsy-95.
Lady Monarchs win
Marysville’s girls defeated Pickerington Central, 207-222, at Turnberry.
Olivia Virts and Maddie Powers shared medalist honors with matching scores of 48.
Olivia Ishmael shot a 52, while Rylee Cavins and Faith Engle each carded a 60.
Pioneers place second
Jonathan Alder’s boys were second to Bexley in their sectional tournament.
The Lions won with a 313, JA shot a 330 and Heath finished with a 368 to round out the district qualifiers.
Giuseppe Petrella carded a 79 for the Pioneers, followed by Hayden Mitchell-82, Zach Otto-83 and Tyler Hilbert-86.
Cardinals compete
Triad’s boys competed in the sectional at Beechwood Golf Course.
The Cardinals did not qualify for the district.
Triad scores were Jacob Greve-89, Creighton Bradley-99, Hunter Talbot-105, Devin Butz-106 and Cole Pond-112.
Bunsold ties for second
The Bunsold Middle School boys tied for second place during their annual tournament at Blues Creek.
The Monarchs hosted nine teams for the 18-hole event and tied for runner-up honors with Hilliard Heritage. Both teams shot a team score of 391.
They finished behind the Logan County club team.
Dylan DeLauter was the individual runner-up with a score of 84. Other BMS scores were eighth-graders Ty Shaw (108) and Dominic Lombardi (127) and seventh-graders Johnathon Cusack (98), Wes McHenry (103) and Trevor Watson (106).
