Fairbanks’ varsity volleyball team defeated West Liberty 25-23, 25-19, 15-25, 25-9 to up its record to 15-0 in the OHC and 21-0 overall on Tuesday.
The Lady Panthers finished with an 82-of-87 serving performance for 48 points. They made 148 good passes and tallied 47 kills.
Individual stats were as follows:
-Megan King: 15/17 attacks, five kills, eight blocks;
-Mikayla Mansfield: 19/19 serving, 14 points, 31/36 passing;
-Abbey Hubbs: 10/10 serving, six points, 54/57 passing, 35/37 attacks, nine kills;
-Kelsey Thorbahn: 14/14 serving, 10 points, 23/30 passing, 41/51 attacks, 10 kills;
-Brooke Kleiber: 14/16 attacks, four kills;
-Ka. Carstensen: 18/19 attacks, seven kills;
-Kai. Carstensen: 44/45 setting, eight assists, 24/25 passing, 26/29 attacks, 11 kills;
-Jenay Kocsis: 14/16 serving, six points, 92/94 setting, 26 assists;
-Gracie Tomblin: 11/12 serving, seven points, 41/42 passing.
The Lady Panthers will play at Triad this evening.
Lady Jaguars triumph
The No. 1-seeded St. John’s Lady Jaguars won their first two matches of the COAL volleyball tournament.
St. John’s downed No. 8 Liberty Christian 25-14, 25-9.
Olivia Vollrath served 11 points with nine aces, Grace Gorton served eight points with four aces and Carly Fitzwater added seven points with four aces.
The Lady Jaguars downed No. 4 Polaris Christian Academy 25-10, 25-21.
Gorton served 12 points with two aces, while Vollrath and Fitzwater combined to serve 16 points.
St. John’s will play second-seeded Genoa Christian Academy on Friday at 5:30 p.m. for the league title.
The teams split a pair of matches during the regular season.
