GANGLUFF
––––
Marysville native and professional golfer Stephen Gangluff made his biggest paycheck of the year when he tied for 34th place with a four-round score of 8-under 276 during the News Sentinel Open at the Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. on the Web.com Tour.
Gangluff was able to make the cut with a well-timed 4-under 67 in the second round, but stumbled a bit in round three when he shot a 71 to break even with the course. A good Sunday put Gangluff back in the money when he rebounded for a 2-under 69 to bring his four-day total to 8-under.
The Ohio State University alumni gave himself a chance early in the fourth round when he kept himself at par through the first four holes of the course.
Gangluff started to make some headway when he placed back-to-back birdies on his score card through six holes of golf. He added one more at the ninth hole to give himself a nice cushion at 3-under.
On the back nine, Gangluff started out on the right foot with a birdie at the 10th hole and a 4-under on the day. Trouble brewed on the par 16th hole. A double bogey ended his birdie run and put Gangluff at 2-under where he would finish the round.
The Web.com Tour will travel to North Plains, Oregon to play in the Winco Foods Portland Open for the next round.
