Jonathan Alder’s Jackson Izzard hit a late three-pointer Tuesday evening to give the Pioneers a 45-43 overtime victory over Hilliard Darby.
Izzard, who scored 14 points for the night, got a pass from Jackie Santa-Emma with 11 ticks on the OT clock for the shot that notched Alder’s 10th victory in 12 games.
Darby held an 11-8 edge at the end of the first period, but managed just 10 markers over the next two quarters.
JA (which will play at Kenton Ridge on Friday) took a 21-13 lead at halftime and a 31-21 advantage into the fourth quarter.
The Panthers had their best offensive output of the game during the final stanza of regulation to tie the game at 37-all and send the battle into an extra session.
Jacob Koenig led Alder with 18 points.

Cardinals roll
to victory
Triad’s boys basketball team won for the ninth time in 12 outings with a 69-50 triumph over Southeastern.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the opening period and took a 33-22 margin at halftime.
Triad (which will host Cedarville on Friday) had the contest well in hand with a 51-34 lead by the end of the third set.
Briley Harlan led the Cardinals with 21 points. Cam Atchison tossed in 15 and Hadley LeVan finished with 14.

MHS girls drop game
The Lady Monarchs slipped to 5-9 with a 62-42 loss to Hilliard Bradley.
MHS (which will travel to Westland on Friday) was within striking distance at halftime as it trailed 34-28.
Marysville managed only 14 points during the final half as Bradley put up the easy victory.
Sarah O’Neil led MHS with 18 points.

Lady Pioneers fall
Jonathan Alder’s girls slipped to 6-7 with a 67-61 setback at the hands of Pleasant.
JA trailed 18-14 at the end of the opening eight minutes and 28-24 by halftime.
The Spartans’ margin stood at 46-39 at the end of the third stanza.
Sydney Bourquin led JA (which will host Indian Lake tonight) with 17 points.
She was joined in double figures by Melissa Walbom and Emily Davis, who each tallied 13.
