Marysville’s girls cross-country team finished seventh out of 28 teams during the Division I bracket of the McCowan Invitational at Watkins Memorial High School.
Jacqueline Witt finished 11th overall with a new personal record time of 18:58.9. Other MHS times were Morgan Forney (20:38), Emma Rice (new personal record of 20:40), Katie Krueger (20:54) and Leanne Eichorn (21:20).
Addy Miller-Brown was the sixth runner, beating Hilliard Darby on the tiebreaker for the team place. Her time was not reported.
The MHS boys were 16th during their 32-team race.
Andrew Snodgrass (17:06), Ian Dye (17:12), Hayden Turk (17:28), Matthew Cox (17:45) and Brendan Ralston (18:02) scored for the Monarchs.
Fairbanks’ boys were seventh in the 18-team Division III race at Watkins Memorial.
Aidan Groves was 28th in 18:20.9, followed by Hunter Lynch, 41st, 18:46.84 and Ben Macklin, 42nd, 18:51.4 in the top 50.
The Lady Panthers placed eighth in the 20-team girls D-III contest.
Adeline Fitzwater was 12th in 21:02.1, Kalor Greve was 26th in 21:58.6 and Linsey Eddy was 34th in 22:41.2 in the top 50.
Cardinals compete
Triad’s boys and girls competed in the Troy Invitational.
Holly Cole was 17th in 21:07.4 for the girls race and Alea Ferguson was 46th in 22:44. There were 205 athletes in the race.
A total of 410 runners competed in the boys race.
Triad’s Eli O’Brien was 146th in 19:32.7, followed by Zane Robison, 321st, 22:33.6 and Jacob Warner, 397th, 26:20.4.
Triad had one boy in the middle school event. Joe Ferguson was 48th in 13:00.4. That was a personal record for Ferguson.
Raya Helton of Triad was 199th in the middle school girls race with a time of 21:54.2
