Marysville’s girls and boys cross country teams concluded the 2017 regular season with strong showings at the Eisenhart Invitational at Thomas Worthington.
The Lady Monarchs placed eighth out of 23 teams on Saturday, while the boys were 15th out of 26.
Leading the girls was sophomore Jacquelyn Witt (10th, 19:08). Also scoring for the Lady Monarchs were Emma Rice (56th, 20:56), Morgan Forney (58th, 20:59.25), Katie Krueger (59th, 20:59.41) and Leanne Eichorn (68th, 21:08).
“The girls team had a fantastic regular season and is poised for a strong post-season run,” said MHS coach Luke Sundermeier.
The boys were led by Andrew Snodgrass (47th, 17:05). Also scoring for the Monarchs were Ian Dye (62nd, 17:22), Hayden Turk (79th, 17:36), Riley Karnes (91st, 17:46) and Matthew Cox (93rd, 17:47).
“The boys had a breakthrough race, advancing through the field and running in a strong pack,” said Sundermeier.
Panthers, Cardinals compete
The cross country squads from Fairbanks and Triad competed in the William Saxbe Invitational at Mechanicsburg.
Fairbanks’ girls won their meet with 28 points, edging Mechanicsburg by a point.
Holly Cole of Triad was the top finisher in the girls race. She was clocked in 21:00.8, as she became a three-time champion at the meet.
Alea Ferguson of Triad placed sixth in 23:29.4.
Fairbanks’ girls placed as follows:
Lindsey Eddy, fourth, 22:51.7; Kalor Greve, seventh, 23:29.5; Annika Parks, 13th, 26:37.4; Gracie Hubbs, 14th, 27:02.4; Kai Van Dyke, 17th, 27:37.5; Ellie Trego, 18th, 29:06.8; and Meghan McCaslin, 22nd, 31:50.3.
Fairbanks’ boys placed third with 66 points in their six-team race. London won with 46.
Panther results were as follows:
JoJo Renicker, 12th, 19:40.2; Aidan Groves, 13th, 19:45; Hunter Lynch, 14th, 19:45.1; Kyle Craig, 15th, 19:52.3; Chris Long, 17th, 19:59.2; Ben Macklin, 19th, 20:21.6 and Jacob Nichols, 20th, 20:51.7 to round out the top 20.
Eli O’Brien of Triad was fifth in the boys race with a time of 18:57.4. He was followed by Zane Robison, 21:24.7 (personal record) and Jacob Warner, 40th, 25:22.2.
The Fairbanks boys won the middle school race with 33 points. Urbana was the runner-up with 38.
Dylan Tobe (12:09.6), Joey Ziegler (12:27.7) and Caleb Wenger (12:32.0) were the top three finishers.
Joe Ferguson of Triad was fourth in 12:34.0.
Fairbanks’ girls were second in their middle school race.
Kate Coy led FMS with a second-place time of 14:23.4.
Raya Helton was 12th for Triad’s middle school girls with a time of 18:24.7.
