The Marysville Lady Monarch tennis squad lost a hard-fought match to Watkins Memorial on Wednesday by a 5-0 verdict.
MHS lost two courts in tiebreaker sets, which would have made the match much closer, according to coach Bill Romine.
Anne Grimm almost pulled off the win on the first singles court, but ended up losing a 6-3, 3-6, 14-16 battle to Journey Kissell.
“Grace Larriuz also competed very hard, but got the same result as Anne, losing 4-6, 6-0, 8-10 (to Faith Tripplett),” said Romine. “It was a great effort by all the ladies tonight.”
Lauren Markert lost to Kaitlin Dean at second singles 1-6, 1-6
The first doubles team of Kylie Wells and Ellie Williams fell to Madi Burris and Lillia Walter 1-6, 1-6; while Julia Shade and Caroline Geraghty lost to Madi Deekop and Kenzie Faderson 0-6, 2-6 at second doubles.
