Carissa Baker served 23 points Tuesday evening as the Marysville varsity volleyball squad swept a match at Westland by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-19.
Jazmine Williams tallied 19 serving points.
Kaylee Rich led the Lady Monarchs with nine kills, followed by Lily Keber with seven.
Sara Berkland led the Monarchs with nine assists.
The JV and freshman squads also defeated Westland in straight sets.
The Lady Monarchs will host Central Crossing on Thursday. At that time, they will honor local educators who have made positive impacts on their lives.
Bunsold spikers win, lose
Marysville’s seventh grade Blue squad beat Hilliard Heritage 25-8, 25-22, 25-11.
Alivia Codner tallied eight ace serves, while Katie Palmer finished with five.
Natalie McNicholas was the leading passer with six.
Rylee Dundon led the team with six attacks.
The seventh-eighth grade Red team won its first away match against Hilliard Heritage by scores of 25-18, 25-15.
Bunsold finished with 18 ace serves. Maddie Hansen tallied eight, London Burner finished with six and Chloe Ballard had four.
The eighth grade Blue team fell to Heritage 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.
Peyton Ingle tallied nine aces, while Kaiti Cox finished with six.
Sara Weinbrecht topped the team with 12 digs, while Allie Anderson had 11 and Ella Hansen finished with nine.
NU spikers win
The Lady Cats of North Union were able to come back after a loss to Marion Pleasant on Thursday to beat Marion Harding in four sets, 3-1, on Tuesday.
Journey Blevins had a strong game at the net with 13 kills and five blocked shots, while Taylor Day added to the strength up front with eight kills and four blocked shots. Day also had a good game behind the serve line with five aces.
Josie Duncan added to the ace total with four perfect serves of her own.
Darian Thompson helped keep the floor clean with 18 digs, while Lissie Michael added 16 digs of her own during the victory.
The Lady Cats will return to action on Thursday when they take on Galion at North Union High School.
St. John’s wins three
The St. John’s volleyball team upped its record to 3-1 with three consecutive victories.
The Lady Jaguars beat New Hope Christian Academy 25-19, 25-18.
Grace Gorton served 11 points, Olivia Vollrath tallied seven and Carly Fitzwater served six.
St. John’s downed Grace Christian School 25-22, 25-14.
Vollrath tallied 11 points, Fitzwater notched 10 and Allie Boyd finished with six.
The Jaguars finished the string with a 25-10, 25-12 triumph over Liberty Christian Academy.
Fitzwater served 12 points, while Gorton served 10.
Vollrath and Allie Boyd each served five.
