Emma Vanninen hit nine field goals in 10 attempts and scored 22 points to lead Triad’s girls hoop squad to a 59-50 victory over Springfield Catholic Central.
Thursday’s triumph upped the Lady Cardinals’ overall record to 8-4 and to 6-3 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Triad shot 51 percent from the field, as Vanninen, an exchange student from Finland, was joined in double figures by Alea Ferguson (15).
Ferguson was seven-of-nine from the floor and tallied three assists and five steals.
Kristin Bailey led Triad with six rebounds.
The game was knotted at six after the first quarter before the Lady Cardinals (who will host Fairbanks on Saturday afternoon) got their offense in gear.
Triad took a 23-12 advantage at halftime and a 43-32 lead into the final eight minutes of action.

Wildcats fall
An anemic second quarter at Clear Fork led to North Union’s 65-51 boys hoop loss.
The Wildcats (6-6 overall and 2-5 in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference) led 11-5 after the opening quarter, but went into the turn with a 22-15 deficit.
The Colts led 43-32 by the end of the third stanza.
Harley Day was the only Wildcat in double figures with 14 points.
NU will travel to Ontario on Saturday.

FHS girls drop game
The Lady Panthers slipped to 5-10 overall and 3-7 in the Ohio Heritage Conference with a 71-41 loss at Greeneview.
FHS (which will travel to Triad on Saturday afternoon) trailed 39-21 at halftime, but managed just seven points during the third period.
The Rams took a 54-28 margin into the final quarter.
Logan Stidham led Fairbanks with 23 points.
