An aerial view of the city of Marysville from the cockpit of a T-6 Texan trainer aircraft, named ‘Checkers’, during the Union County Airport’s Oktoberfest fly-in Saturday. The T-6 Texan was the backbone for advanced pilot training for World War II and beyond. In Korea, ‘Mosquito Squadrons’ flew the aircraft into combat, marking targets for the much faster jets of the era. ‘Checkers’ comes from Kestrel Warbird Experience out of Middletown, Ohio. The 165-acre farm that is looking to be brought into Jerome Township’s commerce district, identified above within the red border, is owned and operated by longtime farmer and township resident Carl Mitchell. With no heirs to pass the farm to, Mitchell is looking to sell the land to be developed under the township’s commerce district, which could open it up to many development uses including data centers if it is rezoned from rural residential district.
