Russo splits matches at state tennis tourney

Marysville High School senior Gianni Russo concluded his tennis season on Thursday during the Division I boys state tournament.

The event was held in Wooster.

Russo began the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Nathan Horvath, a freshman from Oregon Clay.

The eighth grade BTY boys basketball team won the Battle Royale tournament in Mason, Ohio. The local hoopsters defeated the West Virginia Hustle 57-40 for the championship. BTY finished the spring season with a 40-1 record. The only setback was at the hands of a team from Pittsburgh.
