Newspaper honors carriers

National Newspaper Carrier Week is celebrated Oct. 5-11, to mark the importance of the newspaper industry and its employees, particularly newspaper carriers for their role in delivering news to their communities. The Journal-Tribune is honoring carriers who have delivered the newspaper for more than one year and have received high praise from their customers. An abandoned house at the corner of Main and West streets in Broadway burnt down on Monday as firefighters worked to put out the flames. Above, firemen from multiple departments work a hose while putting out the fire. Officials on-scene said that there were no injuries and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
