Marysville units deployed

By Kyle Meddles

Editor’s note: This is part of a collection of stories and photos that ran in the Journal-Tribune’s 2025 Veterans Day edition on Nov. 6.

Pictured above, soldiers from Charlie Battery, 1-174 Air Defense Artillery pose in front of a Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) defense artillery gun actively firing as part of the unit’s mission to provide air defense for the region. Below, all the members of the unit pose prior to its deployment in July 2025. Members of the Union County Military Family Support Group recently sent the unit $6,600 worth of Amazon shopping credit to use for emergency items.

Two years ago, soldiers from Marysville’s Charlie Battery, 1-134 Field Artillery Regiment of the Ohio national Guard deployed to Syria. Pictured below, members of the unit fire from an M777 Howitzer during an operational rehearsal exercise at Mission Support Site Conoco in Syria on Dec. 4, 2022. The exercise was conducted to validate weapons systems and maintain crew proficiency and readiness in support of partner forces.
