Walking path officially opens at Harry Wolfe Park
Jerome Township held a ribbon cutting campaign for its new mostly grant-funded walking trail at the Harry Wolfe Park.
The township applied for an Ohio Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program grant back in 2024 to construct a new walking path around the pond in Harry Wolfe Park, located at 9777 Industrial Parkway. The grant was awarded for the original estimate price of $187,000 at a reimbursement percentage of 80% paid by the grant. The remaining 20% was paid by the Township. Through the competitive bid process, J &J Schlaegel, Inc. was awarded the construction job and recently completed the work.
This week, a small group of township employees and officials participated in a ceremony to officially open the amenity. Trustee Barry Adler and Administrator Brandon Standley made brief remarks about the path’s construction and how it came about.
“Today’s ribbon cutting marks the culmination of a lot of work and marks the beginning of a safer facility for joggers, walkers, strollers, and wheelchairs to safely maneuver our beautiful park,” Standley said.
The path is eight feet wide and about 3/10 of a mile in length. It connects to a path that leads users into the Pioneer Crossing housing development behind the park, allowing neighbors to easily access the park for recreational purposes.
Township officials reported having already seen an increase in the use of the path and anticipate more users when the weather gets warmer in the spring.
