Ceremony honors veterans

By Chad Williamson

Master of ceremonies Bo Johnstone speaks about Voices from the Stone honorees Levi and Samuel Millington during the Veterans Day service at Union County’s Veterans Memorial Auditorium Sunday.  Each year the program spotlights Union County veterans who have died in the line of service. It is typically held in front of the Union County Veterans Monument, but was moved inside due to inclement weather. The Millington brothers were killed in action during the Battle of Shiloh in the Civil War.  They served alongside their father, Otis, in the 46th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was present at their deaths. The program also featured guest speaker Ohio Rep. Tracy Richardson, a West Point graduate and army veteran, as well as the dedication of new pavers for the Union County Veterans Monument.
