A weekend of Christmas cheer in Marysville

By Chad Williamson

Christmas was in the air all around the City of Marysville this past weekend as a bevy of holiday activities took place. The Marysville Christmas Parade hit the Uptown streets Sunday afternoon. While old favorites like Santa Claus and the Union County Shrine Club Tin Lizzie Patrol were appreciated, the real crowd favorite proved to be an Ohio Ready Mix truck that created “snow” that floated onto the crowd, as shown above and below.

Also below, auctioneer Dan Westlake sells the final item in the Care Train of Union County Auction Saturday afternoon. Each year the trademark white cowboy hat trophy caps off the auction and helped organizers bring in $240,000 this year.

Below, Union County’s first responders provided the escort for a group of area children Saturday morning during the annual Shop with a Hero event. This year, local law enforcement, fire and emergency personnel partnered with Walmart, Meijer, Dairy Queen, McDonald’s and White Castle to offer the children a wide variety of gifts and treats to ring in the holiday season.
