Walmart cleared due to CO2 leak in fridge unit
A CO2 leak at the Marysville Walmart was quickly addressed by the Marysville Fire Department Wednesday night.
According to a press release from MFD, at 6:57 p.m., Wednesday, firefighters responded to a reported gas leak at Walmart, 555 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd.
Fire personnel promptly identified the source, a CO2 leak from the refrigerator system inside of the building, and all occupants were immediately evacuated as a precaution. Due to the rapidness of the response, the leak was shutdown and crews began ventilating the building until it was confirmed safe to enter for staff. The Union County Health Department was contacted to assist in ensuring the safety of all food products within the store.
“We are pleased to report that no fire department personnel or citizens sustained injuries during this incident,” the release states. “The Marysville Fire Division wishes to express its sincere thanks to Allen Township Fire Department, Jerome Township Fire Department and the Marysville Police Division for their invaluable assistance.”
