Piqua Post investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Shelby County

Piqua – The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash involving a commercial vehicle. The crash occurred today at 6:31 a.m. on State Route 29, in Yan Buren Township, Shelby County.

Preliminary investigation reveals a 2013 Pheonix Concrete Mixer, operated by Carlton Nusbaum, 39, Rockford, Ohio, was traveling westbound on State Route 29. A 2019 Buick Encore, operated by Ida Kaminsky, Kettlersville, Ohio, was traveling southbound on McCartyville Road. Kaminsky failed to yield at the stop sign at State Route 29 and was struck by Nusbaum.

Kaminsky succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash and was pronounced deceased by the Shelby County Coroner’s office.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Van Buren Fire and EMS, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
