At the September 28 meeting of the Darby Township Trustees, the trustees and fiscal officer signed the Ohio Township Association Scholarship application for Carolyn Feick, resident of Darby Township. We requested that she provide her essay, so we can post it on our township website.

Troy Stafford, a Darby Township resident, presented his opposition to the 2040 Plan regarding the proposed bypass that will affect his farm. The trustees indicated they intend to adhere to the Darby Township plan to remain agricultural and rural development. The trustees have attempted to contact the City of Marysville but have not yet received a response.

Our Vision, Our Marysville: 2040 Comprehensive Plan is available online at

The new concept of an Agricultural Security Zone was discussed. It was noted that the landowner is responsible for driving any desired application process. This new concept is being discussed at the local and county government levels. It provides some protections for agricultural land and offers some tax benefits.

Water drainage improvements at the Township Hall, 508 Fourth Street, Unionville Center, are still planned for completion before the end of 2026.  The trustees are seeking a new quote because they felt the previous contractor could not meet their timeline.

BZA and BZC Committee meeting minutes will be posted on the township website moving forward. The Zoning Secretary will work to provide minutes from all meetings already conducted in 2026.

Dave Huber and David Gruenbaum are researching Cemetery Management Software. They are contacting other townships for input. The trustees plan to budget for moving to an automated system in 2027.

The Darby Township Trustees are David Gruenbaum, Dave Huber and Jim Scheiderer.  The Fiscal officer is Mike Raush, Moand the zoning inspector is Jackie Ward.  The Darby Township website is https://unioncountydarbytwp.com.

Because of Columbus Day, the next scheduled trustee meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. at the Darby Township Building located at 508 Fourth Street, Unionville Center.
