Accidental shooting sends man to hospital

By From JT Staff Reports

The Marysville Police Division responded to an accidental shooting in the early morning hours on Saturday.

A 53-year-old female caller from the 300 block of Sycamore Street reported that her 21-year-old son had accidentally shot himself in the hand at 1:20 a.m., according to a release from the department.

Officers responded and found the 21-year-old, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his right hand. The accidental discharge was caused by a pistol he was working on. He was transported to Memorial Hospital by medics from the Marysville Fire Division and later transferred to the Ohio State University Hospital for further treatment.

The initial investigation indicates that the bullet likely exited the home through a kitchen window and struck the exterior of the neighboring home. No other injuries were reported and the incident remains under investigation by the police department.
