David and Nina (Rausch) Boerger celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 4.
The couple began dating while students at Fairbanks High School.
They were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marysville, by the Rev. Oscar Decker on Oct. 4, 1969.
Earlier this year, he retired after 53 years in banking, including nearly 43 years with Richwood Bank. A lifetime and third-generation farmer on their farm, he, his son and grandson raise club pigs and crops.
Early in their marriage, she worked for an investment firm in downtown Columbus, and later as a deputy clerk for Judge Robert Allen at the Union County Probate and Juvenile Court.
She has also volunteered at their children’s schools, their church home at St. John’s, as well as genealogy, congregational, and local historical research through the years.
Together they have supported their children Allison (Todd) Gorton and Adam (Sarah Wiley) in their educations, activities and sporting events. They continue to do so for their grandchildren, Grace and Blake Gorton and Barrett, Vera and Colt Boerger. Gatherings, celebrations, travel and vacations with family and friends have were much appreciated — especially this year celebrating their milestone birthdays, retirement and 50th wedding anniversary.
