Dr. Grant and Gladene (Carman) Johnson, of North Lewisburg, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. They were married Aug. 25, 1968, in a garden wedding on the family farm in Mingo. They are the fifth generation of Johnsons and third generation of Carmans to be married 50 years. He served in the United States Army, worked for The Ohio State University and is now a partner with his son, Otho Galen, at Johnson Veterinary Clinic. She is retired from Security National Bank and the Champaign County Library, and now volunteers at the Champaign County YMCA. Their children, Laura, Galen, Chet and Jed, as well as their sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren, were there to celebrate their anniversary. It was also a double celebration, as the couple shared the occasion with his brother, Alfred and his wife Marion (Crist), who have been wed for 50 years since Aug. 10, 1968.
