The Marysville School District is interested in redistricting its elementary schools. At a board of education meeting Thursday night, Assistant Superintendent Jonathan Langhals presenting the findings of a study that highlighted the enrollment numbers within the district. The presentation showed that the school district has grown 3 percent, or by 158 students, since 2009. It also predicts enrollment will rise by 15 percent, or 777 students, by the 2028-2029 school year. Barbara Ann Bouic, 80, of Ostrander, died unexpectedly Monday evening, March 11, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. After graduating from Malone College, she taught for a year in Tuscarawas County before teaching for the Columbus Public Schools until 1979. Through the years, she also taught part time at Fairbanks School and St. John’s Lutheran School. A person of great faith, she was a longtime member of Dublin Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Jonathan Alder High School (JAHS) may be closer to getting a new principal. At a board of education meeting Monday night, Jonathan Alder School District Superintendent Gary Chapman announced that JAHS Principal Mike Aurin accepted a new position as principal at Dublin Jerome High School. As of Monday night, Chapman said there were 26 applicants for the position. A day later, the district announced through a press release that J. Milford Center Village Council members aren’t in agreement with each other about water and sewer rate increases. At a meeting Monday night, council members turned down the second reading of a resolution to reinstate a 3-percent yearly increase in water and sewer rates, which Village Fiscal Officer Dawn Barnhardt said would amount to nearly $2. Council also decided to table the reading of a resolution to impose a $2 surcharge for stormwater runoff. According to the Marysville Division of Police, a car crash involving a Toyota Corolla S and a Volkswagen Beetle occurred at the intersection of West Fifth Street and Emmaus Road at around 3:10 p.m. Friday. Officers reported no injuries at the scene, and no one was transported for medical treatment. Traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane. Twyla B. Paul, 87, of West Mansfield, died March 6, 2019, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. She grew up on the Weatherby family farm near North Greenfield. She graduated from East Liberty High School in 1949.
