Triad’s girls golf team dropped a 262-276 decision to Greenon on Monday. Alli Gregg led the Lady Cardinals with a 62, followed by Megan McMannaway-65, Chole Honchell-74 and Ella Campbell-75. The Cardinal boys fell to Mechanicsburg, 184-215. Adam Mroczkowski led Triad with a 44, followed by Tyler Gross-55, Joe Williams-55 and Evan Ziegler-61.

Patrons of the All Ohio Balloon Fest, shown above, enjoy shopping from balloon venders. The All Ohio Balloon Fest was held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Union County Airport. Attendance just over 10,000 – due to the inclement weather and the fact that no balloons were launched. Marysville’s boys and girls soccer teams fell to Big Walnut on Friday. The MHS boys dropped a 2-1 verdict. The Monarchs got on the scoreboard during the second half when Cory Cordell scored from close range. Marysville’s girls fell by an identical score. Olivia Brooks tallied MHS’ lone goal. Brielle Young posted five goals. The games were part of Ohio’s Futbol Friday night soccer openers.

Marysville’s girls golf team placed ninth during Saturday’s North Canton Hoover Midwest Classic. MHS finished with a team score of 387. Dublin Jerome won the event with a score of 320. Cassi VanDyke led the Lady Monarchs with a season-best 86. Other scores for the Monarchs were Avery Prohaska-97, Emily Williams-99 and Allee Forrider-104.

William and Marlise Bunsold celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 14. The couple was married in 1971 at the First United Methodist Church in Bellaire. Harold Ivan Moats, 91 of Marysville, formerly of Richwood, died Thursday August 12, 2021 at the O.S.U. Hospital. He was born April 25, 1930 in Johnstown to the late Gail B. and Beulah B. (Parsons) Moats. Harold was a 1948 graduate of the Johnstown High School; he then served our country in the United States Air Force, also serving overseas in Korea. Crowds poured into the Union County Airport for the first day of the 2021 All Ohio Balloon Fest – before the rain began to pour, too. Performances from opening acts Shane Stephens Band and Cliff Cody, pictured above, went off without a hitch. Though it appeared nearby storms would skip over the area, just before 8 p.m., lightning strikes quickly appeared near the site. Stage is set for Balloon Fest Volunteers with a mission group from Lima help set up the stage for the All Ohio Balloon Fest today at the Union County Airport. Gates open today at 5 p.m. when the Shane Stephens Band takes the stage, followed by Cliff Cody and then headliner Cole Swindell. Patrons should enter through the Weaver Road gate. A group of local governments have each approved the terms of a national opioid settlement agreement. At recent meetings, Marysville, Plain City, Richwood and Union County opted in to a settlement that will provide financial relief for the effects of the opioid crisis. Through the agreement, Marysville is eligible to receive up to $77,840, Plain City could receive as much as $20,647.65, Richwood would be in line for upward of $2,829.88 and Union County is eligible for $604,751.05.
