Gene C. Trees, 74, of Marysville and formerly of Lexington, Kentucky died May 10 at OSU Hospitals in Columbus following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was a former employee of Columbus Gas in Columbus where he retired as a controller. He was a 1964 graduate of Fairbanks High School where he lettered in basketball. According to Plain City Police Department reports: An officer was on patrol on Route 161 at 7:47 p.m. when he conducted a routine registration check on a white Ford work truck and learned the registration had been expired since Dec. 25, 2019. The officer then initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Rodolfo (Rudy) Serna.
