Myron W. Gallogly, 80, of Gastonia, N.C., formerly of Marysville, died April 6, 2021 in Gastonia. He was the owner and operator of Automotive Testing Labs in Marysville, South Bend, Ind., and Phoenix. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Priscilla, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a brother, Donald (Mary) of Marysville.

According to Marysville Police Department reports: Police responded to a report of an open liquor container on W. Fourth Street at 4:44 a.m. Friday. The reporting person indicated he believed a male “passed out” behind the steering wheel of a vehicle. Police responded to a report of identity theft in the 700 block of Chestnut Street at 4:27 p.m. Friday. The reporting person indicated her personal information was used to open a bank account. Marysville’s boys tennis squad dropped a 3-2 verdict to Marion Harding on Saturday. The Monarchs’ victories came in a pair of singles matches. Sean Richardson downed Lisiecki of Harding 6-1, 6-0 during the first singles contest. Kyrell Stauffer captured the third singles match with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Newsome. Deeren of Harding beat Carson Kane in the second singles match by a score of 0-6, 6-4, 6-4. Marysville dropped both doubles matches. The Bunsold Middle School boys and girls track and field squads participated in the Gardner Invitational at Watkins Memorial on Friday night. The boys team took runner-up honors, while the girls team finished third. Several athletes won their events for the Monarchs. Bailey Gross won the 1600 in 5:39.4, lowering her school record in the process. The girls 4 x 800 relay team of Gross, Maggie Foust, Lyla Channell and Katherine Heap also set a new school record, winning in a time of 11:01. Upon approval by the district’s board of education, Scott Reule will become the next athletic director at Jonathan Alder High School He is currently the athletic/activities director at Benjamin Logan High School. Reule received his undergraduate and graduate degrees respectively from Wilmington College and Xavier University. He began his professional career at Wilmington College as the head men’s basketball and an assistant women’s basketball and men’s baseball coach. Marysville Fire Department Chief Jay Riley said a barn in the 14000 block of U.S. 36, pictured above, caught flames after fire spread from a nearby brush burn. The mechanical barn was used to service agricultural equipment, including oil and fuel that temporarily fueled the flames. Riley said there were no injuries as a result of the incident. The announcement a week ago that Major League Baseball is moving its All-Star Game set for July 13 from Atlanta to Denver has created a storm of protest. The reason was not because of a COVID-19 danger or the poor quality of baseball facilities or the fear of unrest and ensuing riots. It was oddly because of the issue of voting in Georgia.
