Managing editor Chad Williamson and sports writer Sam Dillon both posted perfect records during last week’s Pigskin Pickers. There were only five games on the schedule, due to cancellations. Williamson and Dillon each went 5-0. Williamson got lucky and moves back into the top spot by himself. He has a 68-18 record for the season. Publisher Kevin Behrens slipped back into second place for now with a 4-1 mark. He is 67-19 for the year. For the first time, Union County is ranked in the top 10 Ohio counties with the highest occurrence of COVID-19. According to data from the Ohio Department of Health, Union County had 803.6 new cases per 100,000 people from Nov. 2 for Nov. 15. The data excludes cases among incarcerated individuals. Fairbanks athletes have hit the pause button for at least the next 12 days. District officials announced on Tuesday afternoon that Panther sports have been paused until Nov. 30. That is due to the fact that several winter sports athletes have tested has positive for COVID-19. According to information received from the school district, the virus impacted both the boys and girls basketball programs. District officials announced there will be no athletic events for the district during the remainder of November.
