The Marysville Senior Golf League recently honored the winning team at the 2020 Round-Up. Members of the team are from left, Chuck Bridge, Bill Wening, Bill Nicol and Allen Whiteside. Marysville’s girls golf season ended during the recent Division I sectional tournament at Royal American. The Lady Monarchs did not advance as a team to the district competition. The Union County Health Department is hosting a free tire collection day Saturday, Oct. 17. The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the Richwood Fairgrounds, 1 Gill Street. Tires will be accepted until the trucks are full or until 3 p.m., whichever comes first. There is limited space and tires will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Marysville’s varsity volleyball squad turned back London 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 on Thursday. The Lady Monarchs upped their record to 5-14 with the triumph. “This was a total team victory,” said MHS coach Bethany Bentz. Alyssa Codner and Jillian Gardner each tallied seven kills for MHS. Fairbanks’ boys golf team finished the 2020 season with a third-place finish in the Division III district tournament on Thursday. The match was played at Denison Golf Club. FHS finished competition with a score of 346. Newark Catholic (329) and Worthington Christian (336) advanced to next week’s state tournament.
