The Bunsold Middle School eighth-grade Blue volleyball team defeated Finland Middle School of Columbus 25-10, 25-4 on Wednesday. Ari Nusbaum had 12 aces. Courtney Parrish finished with three kills, while Danika Doren tallied a trio of aces and one kill.  The seventh-grade Blue squad downed Finland 25-7, 25-1. Kenleigh Russell served the entire game for the Monarchs during the second set. A total of 17 of her serves were aces. Aaliyah West notched seven kills.

Singles -Emma Pzedpelski (M) defeated Davis 6-3, 6-0; -Mallory Huffman (M) downed Koob 5-7, 7-6, 1-0; -VanGundy beat Molly Armstrong (M) 7-5, 6-2. The Bunsold Middle School cross country teams ran their first races on their new course earlier this week. The Monarchs competed in dual meet action against New Albany. The boys won their meet as Evan Donahue (11:43), Levi Weithman (11:48) and Mack Weithman (11:51) led a 1-2-3 finish for the Monarchs. The girls fell to New Albany, but Bailey Gross of Bunsold won the individual race with a time of 12:09.

Interested Plain City residents have an opportunity to become a member of council. A council seat will soon open, as Mayor Darrin Lane recently announced his resignation will be effective Sept. 30. According to Ohio Revised Code, Council President Pro Tem Jody Carney will assume the role of mayor, leaving her seat open. Village Administrator Nathan Cahall has previously said council will then have 30 days to appoint a council member to fill Carney’s vacant seat. Police responded to the 500 block of Doral Court at 10:29 p.m., Monday in response to an attempted suicide by a juvenile. Police are seeking information about theft of several political signs. A video of the signs allegedly surfaced Monday evening, alerting the police to several teenagers who may have been involved.
