Last week, Jonathan Alder welcomed students back to the classroom for the first time since March. The official start was pushed back from a week to help prepare for the reality of school in the time of COVID-19. The district is on a hybrid learning pathway, meaning some students are at the schools in-person on Mondays and Tuesdays and learn online Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and other students attend school in-person on Thursdays and Friday and learn online Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Teachers and staff at the new Abraham Depp Elementary School in Plain City are preparing to welcome students into the building beginning next week. Depp is Dublin City School District’s new elementary school in the Jerome Village housing development. The building, nearly 83,000 square feet, has capacity for about 650 students. Principal Troy Ersham said about 200 students have opted for remote learning through at least the first semester. Students in the Dublin District have already begun online learning. Richard Patrick Egnor, 61, of Indian Lake died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1958 in Dayton to Norman J. Egnor who resides in Bucyrus and Beverly A. (Dewitt) Egnor who preceded him in death in 2016. He was raised in Bucyrus and was a 1977 graduate of Bucyrus High School, where he will be remembered as an excellent linebacker and long snapper for the Redmen.
