The driver of a motorcycle was transported by Careflight after being hit “head-on” during a crash on Middleburg Plain City Road Monday night. A Richwood man on a mobility scooter was struck by a bus on Thursday near the intersection of North Franklin and East Blagrove streets, but received only minor injuries. According to Richwood Police Chief Monte Asher, a bus turned out of an alley near the intersection and hit a man on an electric mobility scooter going “two or three miles per hour.” That caused the scooter to topple over onto the man. Carl Oden Besst, 86, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020 at Prestige Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Marysville. He was born Sept. 18, 1933 in Warsaw, Ohio to the late Harold and Lois (Nowels) Besst. He was a 1951 graduate of Warsaw High School, and later the Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture education. He taught vocational agriculture at Union High School and North Union High School in Richwood for many years. He was also a farmer until his retirement.
