The Fairbanks High School girls golf team placed as runner-up to New Albany during the third annual Jill Vanuch Memorial tournament on Saturday. The Lady Panthers shot a 344. Natalie Parker led FHS with a 77, followed by Emily Wilson-82, Audrey Brackenridge-83, Rachel Studenmund-102, Allison Kise-114 and Jordyn Orodi-124. JVs win Marysville’s junior varsity boys beat Hilliard Davidson in a dual match, 193-202. Gavin Cossette shot a 46, Justin DeHoff and Tyler Smith each carded a 48 and Cole Weaver added a 51.

Triad’s football team outgained Greenon in total yardage, 416-402, but came up short on the scoreboard, 42-35, on Friday. Greenon took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, only to see the Cardinals (0-4) put 26 points on the board during the ensuing stanza. Triad (which will host Cedarville on Friday) held a 26-21 margin at halftime. The Cardinals expanded their upper hand to 28-21 with a third-quarter safety. The Triad junior high football team evened its record at 1-1 with a 28-14 home win over Greenon on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter, but Greenon refused to buckle, getting back into the game on a 65-yard touchdown pass. The popular Milford Center labyrinth, that drew thousands of visitors last fall, will once again get curious maze-goers lost when it opens to the public on Saturday.
