A local woman could be sentenced nearly three centuries behind bars after allegedly defrauding taxpayers out of more than $260,000. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Jennifer L. Winn, 40, of 17639 Bear Swamp Rd., Marysville. Winn is charged with aggravated theft, grand theft, two counts of identity fraud, two counts of telecommunications fraud and 52 counts of tampering with records. Winn operated a state certified daycare center. LANE –––– The trial of Todd Lane came to a sudden conclusion Wednesday when both sides agreed to a deal. Lane, 44, pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. While plans to renovate the Union County Justice Center have been scaled back, county officials said they want to focus on changes that will make the facility more secure. A new plan calls for an expansion of lobby between the courthouse and the justice center as well as the public entry way on the south side of the buildings. A local man has been indicted following a traffic crash that injured him and a friend. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Brian Michael Spaulding, 21, of 688 Wagon Wheel Lane, Marysville. Spaulding is charged with one count of aggravated vehicular assault and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them. An investigation into a local purchase of cold and flu medication has led to drug manufacturing charges against a man and woman. The Union County Grand Jury has filed indictments against Elizabeth Ann Gough, 39, and Douglas Gary Powell, 41, both of Chardon. Powell and Gough are each charged with one count of first-degree felony illegal manufacture of drugs and third-degree felony illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.
