What started as a routine traffic stop, stopped more than three pounds of marijuana from coming into Marysville and ended in an indictment for a Columbus man. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Colin Douglas Thierjung, 21, of 1481 Bradshire Dr., Columbus. Thierjung is charged with one count each of possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana. According to court documents, On Feb. 12, Thierjung was headed to Marysville when an Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) trooper stopped him for allegedly having a headlight that didn’t work. Jerome Township officials have hired the former zoning inspector to review a pair of proposed new neighborhoods. At a recent meeting, the Jerome Township trustees appropriated $7,000 for G2 Consulting to review the design for two new neighborhoods in Jerome Village. Gary Smith, who served as the township’s zoning officer, owns the firm. “It’s not that I don’t have the capacity or the ability to do this,” said Mark Spagnuolo, the current township zoning inspector. “What I don’t have is enough time to do all this.” Spagnuolo said zoning work, along with the number of zoning appeals, has “increased significantly”…

BEVERLY –––– A local man who allegedly stole turnout gear so he could respond to emergencies and act like a firefighter has been indicted. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Tony L. Beverly, 18, of 261 N. Main St., West Mansfield. Beverly is charged with one count each of trespass in a habitation and receiving stolen property, both felonies. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of acting likes a firefighter and misconduct at an emergency. Local officials are asking for the public’s help in bringing awareness to end violence against women. The sixth annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event is scheduled for Friday, May 18.
