Investigators are asking the public for help solving a pair of cold case homicides. As the county passes the anniversary of the crimes, the Union County Sheriff’s office is reminding the public about the unsolved killing of John E. The way bulk trash gets collected in Marysville is changing. Beginning Jan. 4, bulk trash will be collected daily along with the regular trash. “Instead of calling ahead and having bulk items collected one day a week, they will just pick it up each day as they do their routes,” Marysville Project Manager Marc Dilsaver told the city Public Service/Public Safety Committee recently. The online comments of one Marysville City Council Member took center stage at Monday night’s council meeting. Honda is working to improve communication inside its buildings and helping local first responders at the same time. The company recently constructed Multi-Agency Radio Communication System (MARCS) tower and installed the related equipment on Honda property. The Union County Prosecutor is crediting a local detective with breaking up a regional crime ring. Andrew K. Foster, 52, whose court listed address is the Corrections Reception Center in Orient, was sentenced recently to 10.5 to 14.5 years in prison. Already under indictment, a Marysville man is in trouble again for allegedly trying to buy a gun illegally. A Union County Grand Jury has indicted Johnny N. Boggs, 33, of 11480 U.S. 36, lot 114., charging him with falsification to purchase a firearm. Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that on Oct. 21, Boggs went to a local retailer to buy a gun. A local man could be facing as many as 12 months in prison after allegedly not leaving his home for police. The Union County Grand Jury recently indicted Anthony J. Vanhoose, 25. Court documents give his address as 317 E. Blagrove St., in Richwood, but also list him as being from Urbana. Vanhoose is charged with one count of obstructing official business. According to court documents, on Oct. 16, Vanhoose was arguing with his wife while they and a child were inside the Richwood home. Marysville is looking for a citizen to serve on the Civil Service Commission. “These are extremely important positions,” City Manager Terry Emery said at Monday night’s city council meeting. The city’s Civil Service Commission consists of three members, each serving staggered, six-year terms. Dispute centers around renovations World of Wonders officials have said they are pursing legal action after the local YMCA withdrew from an agreement with the childcare provider. Lauren Brown, executive director for the World of Wonders Day Care (WOW), said that officials from the YMCA and Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently requested a meeting.
