It appears that owners of a children’s roller coaster will be seeing their gator sooner rather than later. Officials from the Union County Sheriff’s Office have announced that the Go Gator carnival roller coaster has been found and recovered. “We received a tip from the public, from someone who had seen all the reports,” said Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton. On Wednesday Doug Chivington will bicycle from the Cincinnati Zoo to the Toledo Zoo, and he is hoping to do it quickly. Raymond Elementary School is closed today and district officials are working on a way to supply potable water to the building. Marysville Superintendent Diane Mankins confirmed that Friday afternoon, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contacted Marysville Schools about the water supply at Raymond Elementary School. On Aug. 20 and Aug. 30, the EPA tested the water at the school. Union County could soon be getting another funeral home, this one for man’s best friend. Faithful Companion Pet Cremation Service has expressed interest an interest to open a pet crematorium in Jerome Township. The company has said it would like to build a 7,100 square feet facility at 8220 Memorial Drive, Plain City. The location is zoned commercial, which does allow funeral homes and cremation services. Officials wondered, however, if the permitted use designation for funeral services extended beyond people to pets. Jerome Township officials are in the process of replacing the official in charge of growth in the township. Last month, former zoning inspector Mark Spagnuolo resigned abruptly. A local man has been charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Quentin T. Snodgres, 42, of 8011 Rickard Road, Plain City, charging him with one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of possession of heroin and two counts of trafficking in heroin. Snodgres and Jennifer Ann Moore, 40, of Plain City were in a relationship. Prosecutors say that on May 17, Snodgres went to Columbus to purchase heroin. At some point, he gave heroin to Moore. The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Jonathan Andrew Rideout, 21, of Delaware, charging him with one count each of improperly discharging a firearm, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and tampering with evidence. Resch, 28, of the Dayton Correctional Institute, pleaded guilty to one count each of retaliation and intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a crime. Fresh off the success of the Marysville Bicentennial celebration, city officials are already working on plans to increase the number of community celebrations.
