James R. “Jim” Parker, 69, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Marysville with his sister, nephew, “daughter of the heart”, and close friend by his side. Jim was born August 31, 1952 in Wooster to the late Thomas H. and Mabel N. Anita Elizabeth Rausch Beckel, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Memorial Gables in Marysville. Born July 11, 1925 in Marysville, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Matilda Sophia (Starr) Rausch. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Irene (Milton) Scheiderer, Robert W.J. (Caroline) Rausch, Harold C. Martin, 90, of Marysville died Saturday, Oct. 16 at Memorial Hospital of Union County following a number of months of failing health. “Bob” was a longtime member and Past Master of Palestine Lodge #158 F&AM. Active in masonry, he held a number of offices in Palestine Lodge, and was an Advisor to DeMolay. A 32 Degree York Rite Mason, he also held memberships in Marysville Chapter #99, S.S. The Jerome Township Fire Department and deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to a train accident at 9640 Crottinger Road on Monday about 10:10 a.m. involving a train and a 2014 New Holland tractor pulling two gravity wagons carrying soybeans. The tractor with the gravity wagons was reportedly coming across a private driveway on Crottinger Road. The train, traveling northwest to southeast at an estimated 40 mph, struck the second wagon. A 42-0 shellacking of Delaware Dempsey last Thursday kept the eighth-grade Marysville football team unbeaten at 7-0. The Bunsold Middle School squad totaled 446 yards of offense. Zach Bisang led the charge as he rushed for 113 yards on just three carries. He also scored a touchdown. Corbin Wallace ran the ball seven times and tallied 109 yards. JJ Henry, Waylon McDaniel and Hunter Sheldon each ran for touchdowns. Quarterback Paul Green completed five-of-seven passes and threw a touchdown. Marysville’s eighth-grade volleyball team won the silver bracket of the Ohio Capital Conference tournament on Saturday. The Lady Monarchs beat Dublin Grizzell 25-20, 30-28 during the semifinals. Annabelle Clair dominated at the serving line with six aces. Aaliyah West added nine kills and one block. The Lady Monarchs claimed the title with a 25-22, 25-15 verdict over Olentangy Hyatts. Paige Barnett finished with four kills and a block. Kiersten Harvey recorded five assists.
